This is a special book given to me by a favorite Aunt, edition 1984. The Goddess chart includes Athena, Hestia, Hera, Demeter, Persephone, and Aphrodite. Dr. Bolen acknowledges the phenomenon of inherent predisposition.
Who's Who in Greek Mythology summaries:
Cronos or Saturn (Roman), is the husband of Rhea and father of Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus. He swallowed his children when they were born and was, eventually, overpowered by his son, Zeus, and imprisoned in the dungeons of Tartarus.
Rhea, is the sister and wife of Cronos.
Demeter or Ceres (Roman), is the Goddess of Grain and mother of Persephone.
Zeus or Jupiter (Roman), is the ruler of the heavens and earth and the philandering husband of Hera, who had many wives and affairs.
Hera or Juno (Roman), is the Goddess of Marriage and wife of Zeus.
Poseidon or Neptune (Roman), is God of the Sea. He raped Demeter while she was searching for her abducted daughter Persephone.
Hades or Pluto, is the ruler of the Underworld and abductor-husband of Persephone.
Hestia or Vesta (Roman), is the Goddess of the Hearth.
Persephone or Proserpina (Roman), is the abducted daughter of Demeter who became Queen of the Underworld.
Hermes or Mercury (Roman), is the Messenger of the Gods that was sent by Zeus to bring Persephone back to Demeter.
Athena or Minerva (Roman), is the Goddess of Wisdom and Handicrafts, usually portrayed wearing armor. She acknowledged only one parent, Zeus. Also known as Pallas Athena, because in a competitive game Athena accidentally killed her friend, Pallas, and then took her name.
