I had looked at several art representations of the abduction of Persephone to express my emotions about this myth and settled on this painting by Mr. Koch as the best one to do so. I love the active volcano in the background as well as the rocky landscape with the soothing presence of a waterfall. The abductor, a dark man, might not be well accepted in modern times, but provides contrast. Mother is a significant figure in the painting reaching out for her protesting daughter as an angel is present, watching.

In the future, my Mother would say "My Uncles were drunks, my Uncles were drunks," and I was given information that these Uncles died young because of their habit.
I am the only girl Child on my Mother's side of the Family and thus, the only traditionally qualified person to play the role of the Persephone in this narrow focus. Did I do my job well?
