The Christian Way pattern integrates the concepts of authority, fear, death and scapegoating.
Pattern and relational connections can be envisioned as a cross.
A certain point of view, tells the story of the crucifixion of Jesus, that in examination of the evidence, of how the Roman authorities conducted business, it was them that killed Jesus. Yet, in popular stories and the writings of Jesus's followers, the Romans were presented as not so viscous. Why was this? It was because everyone feared them, especially anyone who was rebellious. So, instead of blaming the Romans, as much as they should have been blamed, those sympathetic to the Jesus cause, scapegoated others, including the Jews in the desire that they could continue to live and not be annihilated by authority.
Anyone in the present moment can relate to this "way" of enlisting a scapegoat to look bad so others will not, contributing to misinformation. In the workplace, what do some people do all day but brown-nose in the presence of authority, putting down their coworkers to relieve themselves of fear. For those suffering from their insensitivity, one would think that the inconsiderate acted out of a life and death situation, but they did not, it was just an automatic reaction.
So one doesn't have to be a Christian to practice this "way." Jewish, Atheists, Hindus, Buddhists, and everyone can have an automatic reaction to project suffering on another. It is true, though, that some have more integrity. When one's conviction and self control becomes greater than the fear, then there is no need for the scapegoat anymore as one takes responsibility for what authority will do, even if it means the death of some part of their conviction that is worthy.
