A woman has an uncontrollable desire to bet on the Kentucky Derby, 2017, from a distance. She knows nothing about betting, but finds a legal way to do it. As she does not have much play money at this time to lose, she will keep her activity a secret, unless she wins. Her bet is win, place, show on two horses, Thunder Snow and Always Dreaming, because she looked at the odds, as well as she liked the names. Then, of course, Always Dreaming didn't disappoint, going down in history as the winner, while Thunder Snow, balking out of it's stall, did not finish. People would make fun of her bet, but it revealed something about herself and her human program.
The event was a glimpse into her power function. Her power function is located in the part of the psyche having to do with debt. When she put in her money she created a debt for herself, pending outcomes, if the debt would be permanent or paid back with growth. This function wants to connect with the suffering as well as other entities who fit the description of wanting to "go the distance." They are located in the part of the psyche having to do with the group, future, and estrangement.
The woman has owned her predisposition, showing that she wants to invest in that which is a probable winner as well as that which is more like the underdog. Thunder Snow, besides this embarrassing moment, was an exceptional race horse, at least deserving of finishing. Was there workplace bullying or prejudice behind the scenes, causing the stress? Did this undeserving failure make for the winner? Did the woman and the others who placed bets like hers, cause the moment to happen? Anything is possible in the unconscious. However, one might just accept the idea that the "did not finish" event was destined to happen, and that this woman was obligated to have a personal experience being a part of it.
But, why would this connection exist in the first place? Going back in time, it would be revealed that a man and his wife were paying the debt of a father and a mother abandoner. These parents gave up their child for adoption, creating a debt of caregiving and money that someone needed to take over, if the child was to be taken out of the danger of not growing into a future. The connection is in stress because those who knew about the circumstances, in their psyches they had not resolved what had happened. Bertha, the adoptive mother is described as a supportive teacher and makes a direct connection to the power function, her husband, who was the bread winner of the couple; he makes a direct connection to the suffering, i.e. the adopted child.
The power function is associated with the uncle archetype. Along with this uncle's compassion, comes with it, all the circumstances that made his motivation possible. The owner, the future woman bettor, is destined to experience her power as growing, being a supportive teacher, suffering, and paying someone else's debt, as this is her inheritance (in reality, there are also other connections to power to experience). Additionally, this uncle is an uncle to many in this growing family system as siblings marry and have their own children. If the circumstances of his existence are a secret, then coincidences might occur because the secret still has influence. The coincidence of names between the secret family and the family system will indicate that the father and mother have extended their offense further to others who must resolve their debt. Also, too, there is the uncle, the father, who gave up his child. The connection would then be interpreted as someone who disowned, detached, from an intimate relationship that was suffering. If the father's actions were tainted with sin and crime, like those made famous by malefic, mythic father and uncle... then fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride.
Negative themes that could permeate this family system:
repetition of the same sins and crime (or variations)
plutocratic patriarchiesÂ
not receiving pay back on an investment
paying out for other people's childrenÂ
undeserved sufferingÂ
